Web hosting FAQs
How much does web hosting cost?
Our packages start at R149 per month including VAT for the Standard package with 20 GB of storage, and go up to R649 for Platinum with 150 GB. Every package includes unlimited traffic, email accounts, databases and free SSL — the only difference between them is storage.
Which package do I need?
Most brochure websites and small business email setups fit comfortably in Standard (20 GB). Choose Advanced or Gold if you keep years of email on the server, run a shop with a large product catalogue, or host several sites on one account. Platinum is for busy sites with heavy media libraries. Not sure? Ask us — we can check your current usage and recommend the right one.
Is Linux hosting the right choice for my website?
Yes for almost everyone. WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, static HTML and PHP sites all run on Linux hosting. You only need Windows hosting for ASP.NET applications, which we can arrange on request.
Do you register domains?
Yes. We register and renew .co.za, .com, .africa and most other domains, from R150 per year. The domain is registered in your name — you always own it, and we manage the DNS for you.
What is the difference between a domain and hosting?
The domain is your address (yourbusiness.co.za); hosting is the space on a server where your website files and email live. You need both. We can supply either on its own, or both together.
Can you move my website from my current host?
Yes. Migrations are quoted individually once we have inspected your current site — the cost depends on its size and how it is built. Give us access to your existing hosting or a cPanel backup and we will move the website, databases and email accounts, then switch the domain over with no downtime.
Are backups included?
Yes. JetBackup takes daily snapshots of your files, databases and email, and you can restore individual files or a whole site yourself from cPanel. We still recommend keeping your own copy of anything irreplaceable.
Is there a setup fee or a contract?
No setup fee and no fixed-term contract. Hosting is billed monthly in advance; domains are billed annually. Cancel with a month's notice at any time.
